CAST LIST

Rosalind                           Laura Landamore
My first play at the Maddermarket Theatre was in 1999 as the Jumbly Girl in a Christmas Show and now, many years, many  productions and a great variety of roles later,  'As You Like It'  is my third Shakespearean production at the Maddermarket. The other two have both been 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'!  In 2003 I played the Fairy, and in 2013 I played Puck which I enjoyed immensely. So much so that I'm working with the director again in this show! I have performed in Shakespeare productions elsewhere including Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night and the Scottish Play.

Orlando                                      Tom Girvin

'This is my thirteenth show at the Maddermarket, so it’s a good thing I’m not a superstitious actor! I worked with Chris last year on ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in which I played Lysander. I really enjoyed his innovative, ensemble approach to Shakespeare, so I’m back again for more of the same. Aside from playing the heart-throb Orlando, I’m also involved in the music side of things. It’s great to be working with such a multi-talented cast and I’m very much enjoying the rehearsal process.'

Celia                          Jo Sessions
Jo Sessions trained as a theatre practitioner at the Central School of Speech and Drama and has worked both voluntarily and professionally in the arts industry for many years. Most of Jo’s acting experience has been with the Norwich Players at the Maddermarket Theatre.  In 2009 she established her own Theatre Company (Cut Out & Keep Theatre) out of a life-long passion for theatre and a desire to produce high quality and engaging theatre, and has often been seen performing in lunchtime theatre productions at the Maddermarket, as well as many other venues around Norfolk and Suffolk. She is also a drama tutor and director for Broadlands Theatre Group, based in Filby, which her parents founded over 30 years ago. She has enjoyed working with Chris Bealey in the past and played the role of Janet in the fantastic production of ‘Five Kinds of Silence’ in 2011, but is very glad to be in a comedy this time!

Touchstone                          Neil Auker
Hi I’m Neil and i’ve been acting for over 20 years, I recently graduated from playing the back end of the horse to playing the front which i’m thrilled about, my vital statistics are 46 - 46 - Oh My God! and  in my spare time I enjoy Crochet, working with children and competing in the Ultimate Fighting Challenge!

Oliver                                         John Turnpenny
I’m returning to the Maddermarket after nine years - and several productions (Cold Comfort Farm; Jekyll & Hyde; Dracula; Noises Off; Merry Wives of Windsor) at the other place (the Barn).  Oliver is an odd sort of chap, at first unaccountably evil and cowardly, then miraculously reformed in time to fall for Celia (qv).  But it’s all worth it as I get to fulfil my life-long ambition: to have a good reason for wearing a kaftan. When not on stage, I teach and research politics at UEA, sing bass with London Cantata choir, and spend more time than is healthy looking for the perfect sauna.

Martha                                 Dot Binns

Duke Frederick  /                Rob Tiffen
Duke Senior

This is Rob’s third production at the Maddermarket, having played Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire last season. Rob has also worked with the Sewell Barn theatre, appearing as, amongst others, Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors and as Sgt Mitcham in The Long, The Short and The Tall. Rob originally trained as an Actor at Rose Bruford College and worked professionally as an actor, director and drama teacher for a number of years before retraining as a solicitor. His first professional role was as Lysander in The Dream in the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival in 1999, and his Shakespearean credits also include Macbeth and Caliban. He has also played Arturo Ui in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Andrey Prozorov in The Three Sisters and Gideon in Fairytale Heart (4 stars from The Scotsman at the Edinburgh Festival 2000).

Corin                                     Tim Seely

Silvius                                    Niall Secker

Phebe                                        Lauren Scott

This is my first main stage production at the Maddermarket, I am really enjoying the rehearsal production and working with such a talented cast! I was involved in several productions with the Maddermarket youth theatre including twelfth night and a midsummer nights dream. I'd love to pursue a career in theatre and am starting my training at east 15 acting school in October.

William                          Grant Bartlett
“ Two Oscars, two BAFTA’s and three Golden Globes was not enough to secure Sir Michael Caine the roles of William and a cuckoldy old ram in AYLI, instead they were won by Basildon boy Grant Bartlett. Grant, graduated from the School of Hard Knocks with a PHD on how to make ends meet and worked on and off for many years in Film and Television for the likes of the BBC, Pathe’, Future Films and World Media Rights. In theatre Grant returns to the stage after a 16 month absence, last appearing as Neville in The Seagull Theatre Club production of Alan Ayckbourn’s Seasons Greetings.  Last year he undertook his directorial debut with the clubs stage production of John Hughes cult film The Breakfast Club.  Grant has also performed with The Quaysiders, Spotlight and Nudge Productions a company that Grant was also a founder member and director of. He has also ran a breakfast radio show for BVCR and appeared in the popular Marion Small Olde Tyme Music Halls. This is Grant’s first appearance at the Maddermarket Theatre and he is thoroughly enjoying the experience of working with such a vibrant cast and crew, the ram he’s not so sure about.”

Fiona Macpherson
This is my second Maddermarket production, having performed in London Assurance last season. This time around I've really enjoyed being involved with the musical aspects of the show as well as the acting and feel very fortunate to be rehearsing alongside such a super-talented cast and crew.

 Teresa Nevard

This is my second production at the maddermarket after singing in Oh what a lovely war in 2012. I've been in several Shakespeare plays, but this is the first time I've played a hippy, sheep or goddess! Rehearsing with such a talented director and cast has been really fun and I'm looking forward to opening night!
